But the NSW Police Force’s newest bad boy - the ultra-cool Porsche 911 Carrera - met its match on Sunday in the form of a moulded piece of plastic, four wheels and a sprightly paint job.
In fairness, both vehicles were driven by man power alone, and the latter had a little less weight to manoeuvre down the 80-metre stretch along Central Avenue that formed the second annual Oak Flats Billycart Derby race track.
An estimated crowd of more than 1000 people turned up to see 100 billycarts take to the raceway, with entrants of all sizes, shapes and colours competing across several categories.
The event, which raised money for Oak Flats Primary School, was organised by a group of seven volunteers from the Oak Flats Dads’ Committee.
Committee president Lloyd Powell said glorious weather along with an enthusiastic crowd made for a great day.
‘‘Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun and there were plenty of people there,’’ he said.
‘‘It was great to get the kids outside, not in front of a computer on a day like this.’’
Mr Powell said there were one of two crashes however no major injuries, but did predict a few children may go home a little unhappy - ‘‘I think a couple of the billycarts didn’t go as fast as the kids had hoped. There might be a few parents getting orders tonight for a better cart for next year.’’
