Director Brad Johns hoped it would be a great and scary night.
He said entry to the park was free and train ride fees would apply.
"The park will open at 5pm and train rides start from 6pm," he said.
"Visitors can dress up and have a ride and also have a night-time barbecue. We are hoping that the night will take us back to a few years ago where Halloween fell on a Saturday night and we could have run to the daylight hours. It was that great. This year again we will be dressing up the museum for the occasion."
Mr Johns said that with the help of community and business support the attraction had big plans for the future and still wanted to run a rail link around to the HARS museum.
People can find out more about what is already there and the vision for the future at Tongarra Train Day on November 9.
Mr Johns said it was designed to help anyone interested take the trip back in time to the good old days of rail.
The day starts at 11am and involves both steam and diesel train rides as well as miniature train rides.
There will also be the commissioning of one of the newer diesel locomotives to the collection.
Called The Ivanhoe, it is a diesel locomotive that had worked at the CSR Kalmalia Mill.
The Tongarra Train Day will also see the reintroduction of the Bay Road diesel train run and the reopening of the Ken McCarthy Museum building.
It is free to enter the museum grounds but there is a fee for train rides.
Illawarra Light Railway Museum Society was first founded in 1972 and is run by volunteers.
The society collects and restores narrow-gauge locomotives and artefacts that have come from as far as the canefields in north Queensland.
There are also locomotives that have worked at the old Corrimal Colliery as well as the blue metal tramways of Kiama.
