Listed on eBay alongside Frozen merchandise and cheap designer knock-offs, this pre-loved uterus is looking for a new home.

After 42 years and four children, Coniston's April Creed is ready to part with the "duck's nuts of feminine wonder" - but only for a good cause.

Ms Creed is raising money to buy an expensive, non-government-funded chemotherapy drug for close friend, Ann Truscott, who is battling terminal cancer.

The drug usually costs $93,000 but was discounted by pharmaceutical company Roche to $15,000 on compassionate grounds.

It is the only treatment that can prolong Ann's life.

Ms Creed was devastated to learn Ann, who has been working four days a week during her treatment to keep up with expenses, could still not afford the drug.

"I sat down and thought 'Oh my God, this is hideous'," she said.

"I cried and didn't know what to do ... so I started the crowd-funding page two days later and it literally went up a grand a day - it just took off."

Ms Creed mustered more than $17,000 on her crowd-funding page in just two weeks, before deciding to throw in her adventure-loving organ for good measure and more money.

"I joked to someone that I'd tried selling my uterus on the black market but nobody would have it, then I thought that's how I could get attention, so that is why I wrote it."

Detailing its escapades on eBay, Ms Creed reminisced about the time her uterus "forgot it was 40 and wore regrettable short shorts" or another time it "got plastered and tried to break into Ikea".

Despite the fond memories, she is more than happy to part with its future rights to help her fellow antique collector and Monty Python enthusiast.

Speaking from her home in Rye, Victoria, Ann said she was overwhelmed by her friend's efforts.

"I haven't got the words for it," the mother-of-five said.

"When you've hit the brick wall, you think: 'What in the hell am I going to do now?' ... but this has just made a huge difference.

"What a fabulous person she is - everyone deserves an April in their life."

Ann battled breast cancer for several years, before it spread to her bones and brain.

In another blow, her husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer last Christmas and forced into an early retirement.

Ms Creed, who hopes to raise as much as she can for Ann, said she had been blown away by the response so far.

"Most of the donations have come from people who don't even know Ann, so it has been pretty phenomenal. It's a very positive thing."
