The musicians have specialised in performing for retiree groups but are themselves now reaching an age where they need to retire from the entertainment business.
Fifty Plus co-ordinator Ruth Milne believes the last show will bring a touch of nostalgia with it.
‘‘It’s going to be quite sad in some ways, but on the other hand we think it’s time, so we’re going to go out with a last hurrah and a big lot of joy. A huge amount of joy, we hope,’’ she said.
With a background in marketing, organising Fifty Plus came naturally to Ruth and she believes its success is the product of the hard work of many.
‘‘The team is a wonderful team of people. There’s no way that this is my show, it’s everybody’s show. There are 43 people in that team and they work extremely hard.’’
After 16 years, Ruth said she would miss having something to constantly think about.
‘‘I never stop thinking and planning. I would stop one show and start working on the next one.’’
Fifty Plus’s last show is on Wednesday, December 3, at New Day Church, O’Brien’s Road, Figtree.
