The Vanns will perform at Rad Bar on Sunday.
  • A stack of Illawarra talent will play the Stereosonic music festival. Producers and DJs including Acaddamy, Nick Lynar and Baytek will play at the two-day festival in Sydney on November 29 and 30.
  • Tyne-James Organ has been making waves with his stunning soulful voice lately, and has just teamed up with Adelaide rapper Allday on a new video. The unlikely pair have collaborated on a cover of Chet Faker track Talk Is Cheap.
  • Speaking of live videos, Coastal Creatures is a new Illawarra venture showcasing some of the region's brightest musical stars. Taking acoustic talents into a scenic outdoor venue - Saddleback Mountain, Botanic Gardens - and filming them for YouTube, the video series is pretty special. They've already showcased James Vann, Jessica Allen and Tyne-James Organ, and Joe Mungovan is up next. Watch facebook.com/coastalcreatures for more info and clips.
  • Joe Mungovan has also been named a finalist in the Telstra Road To Discovery competition. One of 10 in the final round, he is vying for $15,000 cash and a trip to the US.
  • The Vanns have a new video for new track Operator. Featuring a spin in their trusty panel van, the clip is up on their YouTube page. The guys play Rad on Sunday.
  • Rad Bar has announced a Christmas party with some of the venue's favourite bands. Headlined by Hockey Dad and Miners, the December 22 concert will also feature The Nuclear Family, Big White, Jacob and Hoon. The evening will raise money to keep the venue open for the next year. Tickets are available online now.
  • The Garden nightclub - formerly Industry, formerly Castros - looks to be dabbling in live music. They've got a heavy metal night on November 29, with Dark Order and Harbour playing. Might the venue be looking to dip into live music on a more long-term basis? Stay tuned.
