Michael Jones didn't think twice about running the Twilight Tournaments in Wollongong.
And the PCYC Wollongong manager is confident the fun and free tournaments, starting this Saturday night, will again prove hugely popular.
PCYC Wollongong in Exeter Avenue, North Wollongong, will host the tournaments for a three-week mini-term starting November 29, with games to run for three consecutive weeks from 7pm to 10pm each Saturday night.
Mr Jones said the tournament was about more than just the sports, with a typical night including a nutritious meal being served on arrival, a personal development workshop and chances to socialise with other young people in a safe and welcoming environment.
The program is supported by PCYC police, staff and volunteers as well as Rotary Clubs of the Illawarra.
Mr Jones said the tournaments encouraged fun, learning new things and getting active in life.
"We are seeking teams for the first of our new tournaments, which will feature a three-on-three basketball and street-style soccer game," Mr Jones said.
"Individuals are also welcome, as they will be assigned teams at the beginning of the tournament," Mr Jones said.
"The tournaments are open to young people aged 12 to 17 years, and winners receive trophies and certificates. There is no cost as the program is community funded."
