Illawarra Academy of Sport Athlete With Disability (AWD) squad member Jarrod Dyer has continued his sensational season with two finals appearances at the Australian Short Course Swimming Championships in Adelaide earlier this month.
At his first National Short Course Championship at 14 years of age, Jarrod qualified for five events, which is a great achievement in itself, with this national meet being one of the most important on the swimming calendar with past IAS athletes and Australian representatives David and Emma McKeon and Jarrod Poort also competing.
Jarrod competed in the 400m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke.
Finishing 11th in the 400 Freestyle, 12th in the 50m Freestyle and 16th in the 100m Freestyle, Jarrod qualified for the final in 100m Backstroke and 50m Backstroke. Jarrod finished ninth in both finals which capped off a sensational first National Short Course Championships.
Adding these achievements to his three NSW State records and one Australian Record in the S14 Multi Class 2014 has proven to be a sensation year for Jarrod.

The Illawarra Academy of Sport's BlueScopeWIN Individual Athlete Hannah Crinnion has been selected in the NSW team for the prestigious Trans Tasman Challenge at Campbelltown in January.
About 300 talented Under 11 and Under 12 boys and girls from across the state took part in trials for just 30 spots in NSW boys and girls teams in each age division.
The competition rotates between Auckland and Sydney each year with NSW the defending champions heading into the January 18 carnival at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
Hannah made the NSW under-12s team and will bring elite running, throwing and jumping skills to the NSW squad.
Competing in long jump at the trials, Hannah Crinnion leapt 4.77 metres for a massive personal best.
Hannah showed her versatility by being selected in the 100m and 200m plus long jump.
