A 26-year-old Chinese national was travelling on the southbound train about 1.30pm when he was approached by an unknown man who pulled out a knife and demanded the student’s wallet, which he handed over.
Detectives believe the robber fled the train at either Cringila or Port Kembla North, however their investigations are continuing.
The man is described as being between 165cm and 175cm tall with a thin to medium build.
He was wearing a black hoodie at the time of the offence.
