The retirements of Shane Garvey, Robbie Warren and Chris Green from the open side, and with Geoff McGillivray now committed to the over 60s team, has meant a number of changes for Zone 16.
Dapto Citizens' Troy Ford has been rewarded for a standout performance in Newcastle at the under-25 Inter-Zone series by being picked in an all-Citos rink skipped by Kyle Johannes.
Jesse Noronha and Johannes replace Warren and Garvey as the new skips, while Brett Pieper and Dylan Skinner return to the squad of 16.
"We need to shake things up, bring some new blood in or we'll fall behind," Illawarra chairman of selectors Charlie Cheetham said.
"The new guys, especially Troy, have been knocking on the door for a while now and get their chance. Zoran Bosev is unavailable, so Kyle and Jesse will be asked to step up into leadership roles as skips with Jeremy [Henry] and Aaron Teys.
"It's a new-look team, with seven changes and a sign we need to bring new players into the fold."
In the Illawarra over-60s team, McGillivray will skip the side with Rick Malley [Windang], Dallas Dellatore [Warilla] and ex-Shellharbour and now Albion Park recruit Mal Pearson as his partners.
"Dallas was close to making the NSW over-60s team and was an absolute standout for our senior team in the Inter-Zone at Lake Conjola," Cheetham said.
"He deserves his chance and it's a really strong senior team."
The quad series from January 17-18 features Illawarra, Zone 2, Zone 15 and hosts ACT.
Wilson Pattuwai will skip the Illawarra under 25s with Danyon Christie, Jarrod Taylor - the new apprentice greenkeeper at Dapto Citizens BC - and Corey Thompson in the team.
