The outstanding achievements of the region's public school athletes for 2014 were recognised at the annual South Coast School Sports Association presentation at Illawarra Turf Club.
School officials, parents and students helped celebrate the many elite sporting efforts from the Illawarra and South-East regions.
Talented Illawarra-based NSW Swifts netballer Taylah Davies, who is coming back from a serious knee injury, was the special guest speaker for the awards ceremony.
Sussex Inlet Public School student Jasmine Greenwood claimed the Major Primary Award as the most outstanding athlete with a disability (AWD) in primary schools.
Jayme Millard (Waniora PS) won the Sid Hayes Trophy for most outstanding representative in primary school sport.
Trey Barlow (Flinders PS) won the John MacIntosh Trophy for most outstanding achievement in primary athletics.
Mitchell Langford (Berry PS) won the Peter Dobson Trophy for most outstanding individual primary performance.
Zachary Jones (Nowra PS) took out the most outstanding AWD athlete in secondary schools. Matthew Hearne (Wollongong High School of Performing Arts) won the Ron Smith Trophy for most outstanding secondary school performance.
Jye Edwards (Warilla HS) took out the Brian Downes Trophy for most outstanding achievement in athletics.
Taren King (Warilla HS) won the Laurie Constantine Trophy for most outstanding representative in secondary school sport.
Grace Stewart (Kiama High School) won the President's Award in memory of Ray Truman for the most outstanding representative in school sport in primary and secondary schools.
The nine Primary School 2014 Blues winners were Trey Barlow (Flinders PS), Tarni Evans (Bega Valley PS), Jasmine Greenwood (Sussex Inlet PS), Darcy Hennessy (Nareena Hills PS), Mitchell Langford (Berry PS), Isaac McGregor (Crookwell PS), Jayme Millard (Waniora PS), Anton Willett (Milton PS) and Noah Wood (Gerringong PS).
The Secondary School Blues winners were Boden Allport (Smith's Hill PS), Jye Edwards (Warilla PS), Liam Jenkins (Bulli HS), Zachary Jones (Nowra HS), Taryn Love (Ulladulla HS), Joshua Mayo (Kiama HS), Samantha Noronha (Warilla HS), Samantha Peace (Nowra HS) and Bradley Simon (Figtree HS).
