Bronwyn Henderson might have been eight months' pregnant, but a swollen belly and sore feet didn't stop her from running around Wollongong Hospital to complete her medical internship.
The Kiama mum graduated on Tuesday with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery - just eight weeks after giving birth to baby daughter Genevieve.
Mrs Henderson admitted the last few weeks of her pregnancy had been tricky as she balanced her growing stomach with long days in Wollongong Hospital's surgery ward.
"I was still working the day before the delivery," she laughed.
"I was quite large by that stage and doing a general surgery rotation at Wollongong Hospital.
"I'd be doing rounds at 6am and then I was running around the hospital all day".
The 38-year-old has grown adept at juggling her personal life with her career, having spent most of her 30s studying and working at hospitals across the region.
The one-time paramedic completed two undergraduate degrees before deciding to study to become a doctor. Husband Michael said he had been happy to support his wife's academic pursuits, even taking six weeks off to care for their daughter while Bronwyn completed her internship.
"Bron's been studying for years and years, it's all I know now. She went back to the hospital a week after she gave birth - she's so dedicated to her study and work; it's great to see her finally graduate," he said.
Dr Henderson plans to take a year off to enjoy motherhood.
