In a surprise move, independent councillor Peter Moran was dumped as Shellharbour council's representative on the board on Tuesday night, with councillors voting 4-3 to replace him with Cr Saliba.
Cr Saliba said the move was to bring new blood to the board and her new position would work well with other committee roles she had.
However, Mr Ward said the move to replace Cr Moran was similar to a move by the ALP when it was in government.
In 2009, then-minister Tony Kelly dissolved Kiama council's position on the trust board after Kiama councillors appointed Greens councillor and Deputy Mayor Ben van der Wijngaart to the board.
Mr Kelly said at the time Cr van der Wijngaart's appointment was "inappropriate" given his opposition to a planned multimillion-dollar resort in the park.
Mr Ward said he strongly supported the current board under the leadership of Sam Edwards and park manager Nathan Cattell.
"They are doing a very good job managing the park," Mr Ward said. "Peter Moran and I are on different sides on the fence, but I am perplexed as to why he was withdrawn."
