Police alleged the man was attacked by five men, wearing balaclavas and white forensic coveralls, in the front yard of a Dapto home on Saturday.
One of the attackers was wielding a tomahawk axe causing deep cuts to the man’s head and torso.
When police arrived three of the men escaped in a black utility, while two men ran from the scene.
After a chase on foot police used a taser gun to detain Jade Morgan, 32, of Darly Ave, Kanahooka.
It’s alleged he was still wearing the white, blood stained overalls, with black tape around his wrists and a balaclava.
Another accused Shane Noel Dingle, 32, of Kimbarra Cres, Koonawarra, was allegedly found hiding in the front yard of the house next door to where Morgan was arrested.
In facts tendered to Port Kembla Bail Court police claimed Dingle had removed the white coveralls, gloves and balaclava and had hidden them behind garbage bins of the same address.
A second man was kicked and bashed in the alleged assault.
Morgan and Dingle have have been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, affray and reckless wounding in company.
Bail was refused and the pair will face Port Kembla Local Court again on Monday.
