Daniel Robert Dean Clynes, 37, was ordered to live with his sister in Penrith and not enter the Illawarra, except for court dates or legal appointments, amid claims he smashed a window and broke a door at the Balgownie home on the evening of December 21.

Police documents tendered during Clynes' bail application before Port Kembla Local Court on Monday said he and the woman had been together for 18 months but split in January this year. However, she allowed him to continue living with her.

The court heard Clynes went to the woman's workplace - a licensed premises - about 5.30pm and had some drinks while waiting to take her home.

The pair returned to the woman's house about 8pm.

When Clynes wanted to continue drinking at her house, she allegedly told him if he was going to become intoxicated he had to leave.

She and her children left to go to a nearby shopping centre, returning to the house at 10pm and finding it empty.

However, the woman claims Clynes came back half-an-hour later and got into an argument with her daughter, prompting her to tell him to leave.

It is alleged Clynes punched a screen door and a side window on his way out, breaking both.

He ran off but was discovered a short time later by police.

Police charged him with property damage and contravening an AVO but decided not to interview him because of his level of intoxication.

In court on Monday, Clynes also agreed to report to Penrith police three times a week, not contact the woman for 12 hours after drinking alcohol and put up $1000 surety.
