In a statement police said the boxes of red and white wine were stolen from a storage cage in a residential car park on Barker Street in Randwick on Friday after the owners awoke to find the wine missing and contacted police.

Following an investigation, police officers executed a search warrant for the elderly man. They then discovered more items, including power tools and about 200 golf clubs, also alleged to be stolen.

Police are appealing for anyone who believes they might own the stolen property to contact Maroubra Police Station.

The man was charged and will appear in court on February 4.
