The Australian Opals swingman was impressed by what she saw when she guarded Talbot at the AIS Arena, and is looking forward to playing with the former WNBL rookie of the year.

The Mercury, coached by Australian legend Sandy Brondello, were dominant in winning the last WNBA championship, Taylor playing an influential role alongside fellow Opal Erin Phillips.

Talbot is averaging 13.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game in her first season with the Capitals.

She was taken at pick 33 by the Mercury in last year's WNBA draft, but is yet to decide whether to head to the US when the next season begins in June.

The 20-year-old's high basketball IQ, speed, athletic frame and passing ability have impressed many astute judges, including Taylor.

"I think the sooner [she goes to WNBA] the better," Taylor said after her 30-point effort for the Rangers.  "The more you get out in the world and experience different styles and players, it improves your game immensely.

"She's a tall guard, pretty similar to myself. She's strong and really talented, I look forward to seeing her in a Mercury jersey. She's got a lot of skill and that's just going to develop the more she plays. When she feels ready, she should get out there."

Talbot said she is still weighing up her options and is wary of making the move too soon.

"I'm waiting a little longer [to decide], we'll see where I'm at and go from there," Talbot said. "I'd love to play alongside her [Taylor], playing with her instead of against her should be fun.

"Someone like her is always an idol for me. We play the same position and she's one of the best ever to come out of Australia.

"Today [guarding her] was definitely a good challenge."
