Police have yet to formally identify the driver killed in the Saturday collision; he is believed to be a 27-year-old man from Peakhurst.
The man's westbound ute collided with a car carrier travelling east on Appin Road, about 11 kilometres west of Wilton Road, about 6.20am.
The impact caused the ute to catch fire.
The male truck driver was assessed on site by ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
The road was closed in both directions for several hours while a forensic team scrutinised the scene.
Campbelltown police are continuing their investigation.
No charges have been laid in relation the crash.
