Ms Watson has called on Mr Ward to choose his priority – the Albion Park Rail bypass or the yet-to-be started Berry to Bomaderry Princes Highway extension.
‘‘Voters in the Albion Park part of his electorate will be very interested in the choice he makes,’’ Ms Watson said.
“It seems clear to me that Mr Ward is choosing Berry to Bomaderry rather than starting work on the Albion Park Rail bypass.
“He just lacks the guts to tell the people of Albion Park and Albion Park Rail that they’ll have to continue with worsening traffic congestion every day.’’
She claimed she would ensure the Albion Park Rail bypass got priority over the Berry to Bomaderry stage of the highway if Labor won government.
Mr Ward said it wasn’t a case of having to pick one project over the other.
‘‘We are progressing both projects,’’ Mr Ward said.
‘‘Unlike the Labor Party ... we can walk and chew gum at the same time.’’
Mr Ward also pointed out that, in terms of readiness, the Albion Park Rail bypass was slightly ahead of the Princes Highway upgrade.
He said the Labor Party had promised nothing in regard to the Albion Park Rail bypass.
‘‘There’s an election in two-and-a-half months, people know what I’ve been able to achieve on the Princes Highway but when it comes to promises and commitments from the Labor opposition, we see tumbleweed blowing by. We see absolutely nothing.
‘‘They haven’t said they’re going to fund it. They haven’t even said they’re going to progress the planning work. Where’s the commitment?’’
