Talented Illawarra teenager Jordan Taylor and rising star Jono Davis were the biggest of the nine sectional winners in the pairs at the Junior South Pacific Carnival at Warilla Bowling Club.
Wiseman Park-based Taylor, who is among the regions most promising players, and 13-year-old star Davis combined to win their three sectional games with a +68 shot margin.
Tuesday's second day of the tournament featured 35 pairs teams chasing a spot in Thursday's quarter-finals.
Among the other nine section winners were Nick Evans (Waterboard) and partner Luke Grainger (St Johns Park), who beat Fairy Meadow junior Dawn Hayman and her former Australian under 18s teammate Jamie-Lee Worsnop in their sectional match.
Evans and Grainger finished with three wins and a +25-shot differential.
"It was a tough section and you had to play well to get through," carnival organiser Leif Selby said.
Reigning open singles champion Sam Hatch-Caccamo (Putney Tennyson) and Narooma's Jay Bruest are into Wednesday's post sectional round in singles and combined to win their pairs section, with 3wins+44.
Bruest and Hatch-Caccamo now face section nine winners Kyle Breese (Merrylands) and partner Jack Walker (The Hills) in the knockout on Thursday.
The other seven sectional winners advanced to Thursday's quarter-finals (12.30pm).
The carnival continues on Wednesday with post-sectional round in singles for the open (under 18s) and under 16s.
Some players will need to win three games, but by the end of Wednesday the finalists will be determined.
In second round open singles matches featuring the 15 section winners, Kyle Breese takes on Jesse Herbert, who knocked out Australian under 18s representative Dylan Skinner in his section.
Molly Wilton faces Jay Bruest, Shaun Mitchell takes on Jack Smith and Warilla's Darren Gumley faces Corey Petherbridge.
Jono Davis meets Corrimal's Jarrod Beckford, while Isaac Raynor takes on Jordan Taylor.
Warilla's Kate Davis faces defending champion Hatch-Caccamo for a quarter-final spot.
All finals are on Friday.
