Pure Art Projects facilitator Honora Jenkins introduced herself to the kids by shaking a hoop onto their arm.
Kids decorated their own full sized hula hoops during the day and were shown a variety of circus skills.
Ms Jenkins said the program aimed to teach participants basic life skills in a creative environment.
‘‘We work on fine motor skills through hooping, as well as other things like listening and following instructions,’’ she said.
‘‘The kids are really calm in this environment and enjoy working creatively.’’
