The fifth-placed Sixers (8-11) have to play the Wildcats in Perth on Friday night and are eager to prove last week's comeback win over Melbourne wasn't fool's gold.
Wollongong have just one game to focus on this weekend and are desperate to win after five straight losses.
"We know they'll be there all week studying us up and they'll be fired up and ready to go," Adelaide forward Anthony Petrie said.
"They're just trying to look for that win and hopefully it's not against us, but first things first. We have to deal with Perth and that's where all our focus is. We'll worry about Wollongong after Friday night."
The Sixers enhanced their finals prospects with the confidence-boosting victory over Melbourne.
"It was a massive game for us, especially against the team coming fourth," Petrie said.
"To come back from 12 points down at the start of the fourth quarter, that was incredible. It was one of my favourite wins. I don't think anyone thought we'd come back and beat them on their home floor.
"We've always had belief in our system, it's just a matter of getting it done and actually getting over the line. We're starting to believe we're heading in the right direction. The last few months we've played good basketball."
Both teams will be wearing old-style uniforms to mark NBL Heritage Week. Wollongong host the Sixers in part two of Heritage Week next Friday.
