A Liberal Party visit to the Illawarra on Thursday gave Premier Mike Baird a chance to kick Labor - but delivered little else for the region.
Just 24 hours after Opposition Leader Luke Foley stood near the lighthouse on Wollongong's Flagstaff Hill pledging $380 million in funding, Premier Mike Baird visited the same area for a meet-and-greet with the region's Liberal candidates.
However, Mr Baird did most of his talking at a morning press conference near Berry, where he lashed out at a Labor promise to spend half the proceeds from the lease of Port Kembla port in the Illawarra.
"Don't believe the con; they're coming down, they're allocating money they don't have for projects they don't know - you can't trust them," Mr Baird said.
"It is an incredible concern ... the leader of the opposition is not sure what project's in, what project's out [or] where the money's coming from.
"We have clear priorities, we're delivering them and we have the money."
However, Mr Baird said little when asked what new infrastructure the Illawarra would benefit from if the Liberals were re-elected, only that a range of projects would be funded.
"We are committed to continuing to deliver for the Illawarra," he said.
Mr Baird was also questioned over why, as treasurer when the port was leased, the region only received $100 million.
"There was an initial expectation on port proceeds and that if we ran through the process ...we could get more," he said.
"So, as part of the subsequent budget process we included $170 million [for the Princes Highway]."
Mr Baird was also asked if he knew what the projects were, and where the $100 million would go, when his government established the Restart Illawarra fund.
"We ran a process, we outlined a fund and we are delivering incredible projects for the community," he said.
"Labor has had four years and if you add their previous 16 years in government, there's 20 years to come up with some infrastructure priorities for this region and we haven't seen any."
