Shellharbour will roll out the red carpet for the star of screens both big and small when he steps up as the city's Australia Day ambassador for 2015.
Bishop has featured in such series as McLeod's Daughters, Heartbreak High, Home and Away, Water Rats and All Saints.
One of his most popular roles was in the American medical drama series Body of Proof, where he took on the role of medico-legal investigator Peter Dunlop, delving into Philadelphia's most mysterious medical cases.
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said Bishop would help launch the city's Australia Day activities and events, which will begin with charity fund-raiser Breakfast by the Lake.
"Having someone of Mr Bishop's acclaim visit our city as our Australia Day ambassador is an honour," she said.
The breakfast will run from 7am to 10am at a cost of $4 each, which includes cereal, sausages, eggs, juice, coffee and tea.
Bishop's address and the Citizen of the Year Awards and citizenship ceremony will be held on the main stage from 7.30am.
This year's festivities will include motor sports, live music, theatre performances, creative artistic sessions, sand modelling competitions and games.
The event will be extended into the afternoon to include youth concert Amp It Up, with activities continuing until 2pm.
