Bearded electro-soul artist Chet Faker took out the coveted No.1 spot in a record-breaking and contentious 22nd outing for Triple J's annual Hottest 100 music poll with his song Talk is Cheap.

He beat Canberran house music duo Peking Duk, with their song High.
The win capped a stellar nine months for Faker whose real name is Nick Murphy. His celebrated debut studio album Built on Glass topped the ARIA charts and also earned the Melburnian the ARIA award for Best Male Artist.
Faker had four songs in the Top 25 - Gold (which came 7th), 1998 (8th) and a cover of Sonia Dada's classic Lover You Don't Treat Me No Good No More (21st).
Peking Duk also had the fifth most popular song in the countdown, Take Me Over. The duo proved an amusing but awkward live interview cross by blurting out the dreaded f-word. "It's been the most amazing ride of our entire lives and we're f---ing stoked," said Styles.
Veteran Adelaide hip hop act Hilltop Hoods came third, with Cosby Sweater. It was the third time Hilltop Hoods had scored the No.3 song in the Hottest 100.
The results highlighted the difference between preferences of Triple J fans and the wider public; Talk is Cheap only made No.31 in the ARIA singles chart and High peaked at No.5, while Cosby Sweater got to No.4
Triple J officials estimated more than 2 million votes had been cast - meaning more than 200,000 people had picked 10 songs each.
Before the countdown started, presenter Lewis McKirdy sent a purpose-built ABC website into meltdown by telling listeners votes for American popstar Taylor Swift's Shake It Off would not count, much to the disappointment of her fans.
McKirdy directed them to triplejfeed.com, a pop-up URL that had been designed to ape the look of entertainment website Buzzfeed. The site listed eight reasons Swift had been disqualified, done in the style of a Buzzfeed feature.
The website was instrumental in promoting a campaign encoutaging people to vote for Swift - even though she has never been played on the station.
The Hottest top 10 did include two big global pop hits: Uptown Town, by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars came sixth and Sia's Chandelier was 9th.
Sia was the best-placed female solo artist. The next highest was Lorde, who came 18th with Yellow Flicker Beat, the song she wrote for the Hunger Games: Mockingjay soundtrack.
