For too many years the old wave generator has stood, stuck in the sand just off the coal loader.

There is now a lot of media coverage relating to building an artificial reef in the area.
Three problems could be solved by floating the wave generator out to a safe distance from the shipping lane and dropping it somewhere off Wollongong where there is a sandy sea bed with approx 30 metres of water depth.
This could also become a good dive site, which would bring much needed tourist dollars to the area.
This would provide an alternative to diving on the Bombo, which lies directly in the shipping lane to Port Kembla harbour and so has limited access.
The benefits are: removal of the rusting hulk from the beach; provision of an artificial reef; and provision of a new scuba dive attraction.

Once again an Australian company has been caught using cheap labour at the expense of the local workforce. Manildra cries foul but distanced themselves as Xstrata in NT did, when it was caught using Spanish labour paid at half our wage.
Where and when is this government going to stop this sort of abuse at the cost of jobs of our local tradespeople. Big business has no conscience.

It never makes any sense at all to see Prime Minister Tony Abbott going to such extremes to save two convicted major drug dealers from the firing squad.
When I think of the poor Australian kids found dead with needles still sticking out of their young bodies, and the human waste that profited from their deaths, I say let me have a spot on the firing squad.
I would be only too happy to pull the trigger.

I always understood that a song was a song and a hymn was a hymn.
So, what is wrong when we are urged to sing Advance Australia Fair as our national anthem?
For once, let’s get it right, by all means have Advance Australia but remember, God Save the Queen is the national anthem.

Purge the present
In December 2013, in an effort to purge political faux pas from the past, Prime Minister Tony Abbott deleted all records prior to July 2010, and redirected a sanitised version of his web pages to liberal.org.au, the official website of the Liberal Party.
No doubt the abridged version of history gives a moral boost to the party faithful.
To save further embarrassment may I suggest he finish the job, and expunge all records from July 2010 to the present?

Today I had to take my husband to Wollongong Hospital. He was doing a DIY repair job on a sharp knife. We spent about three hours there and he required about 30 sutures in his left arm and fingers.
A very big thank you to all the staff at accident and emergency...for the prompt attention and a special thank you to Jenny the nursing practitioner.
