Nadina Bampton is jumping for joy after she and four teammates from the Mount Ousley Physical Culture Club were crowned with national titles.
Ms Bampton, Brooke Davey, Kristin Scott, Tarah Scott and Tayla Smith won five first places at the prestigious Physical Culture Senior National Finals, held at Sydney Opera House.
It's the first time in Australia that a physical culture club has attained five national titles in the elite open senior age group events, Ms Bampton said.
"It is an amazing achievement of which we are all very proud," she said.
Ms Bampton won first place in the open senior (28-years-plus) division; Ms Davey in the open senior (25-27 years); Ms Smith in the open senior (23-24 years); Ms Kristin Scott in the open senior (21-22 years); and Ms Tarah Scott in the open senior (19-20 years).
Physical culture, or physie, is a sport for women of all ages that combines ballet, aerobic dance, jazz and hip-hop, and standing and floor exercises.
Ms Bampton, 35, a Wollongong High School of Performing Arts dance teacher, said she had been doing physie at the Mt Ousley club since she was nine because it brought so many positives into her life.
In the lead-up to a physie competition, she trains six hours a week.
Mt Ousley club members Charlotte Sutton came first in the 12-years division and Sarah Locke won the nine-years.
