This is my second season picking grapes. I moved to New Zealand last year and came home for Christmas. I enjoyed picking for the first time last year so it worked out well. It is good pay and I enjoy working outside. The people are lovely and it is quite fun. I love watching the sun rise from Coolie, meeting people from all over the coast, and I love it when you pick a good solid bunch of grapes.

My sister Jedda picked grapes first, then mum and I gave it a go last year.
Now my sister Abbey and I are picking together this year. It is a great way the community can get involved and support local produce.
I also worked in Alexander's Restaurant at Coolangatta Estate for a while last year and was on staff for some wonderful functions. It is a beautiful place and a genuine family business that captures important parts of the history of our region. I enjoy working for the Bishops because they are friendly, kind and good employers.
I love the Shoalhaven Heads and historic village at Coolangatta Estate. I love the relaxed coastal feel. It is quiet and chilled and really quite beautiful. I appreciate the old photos at Coolangatta Estate and seeing pictures of people who lived here before us. I grew up in the Heads, which was really fun. We spent loads of time at the beach and surfing and enjoyed living in a wee, friendly, local community.
I moved to New Zealand to join YWAM (Youth With a Mission). I lived in beautiful Tauranga for six months and decided to come home for Christmas.
Now I've decided to head to uni. I would have loved to pick grapes over there, but missed the picking season. Maybe next time, hey.
