The award will be presented at a lunch at CBD Centro where former Illawarra Women In Business (IWIB) Young Business Woman of the Year, Illawarra Business Chamber and Destination Wollongong director and Kells partner and Accredited Specialist in Business Law and Commercial Law Amy Harper will inspire the finalists from various high schools around the Illawarra.
Zonta Club member Carmen Rudd said there had been a strong field of entrants for the award, to be announced on March 8, and the students were of a very high standard.
And Mrs Rudd said Ms Harper would be a very inspirational speaker.
In January 2012, Ms Harper was just 31 when she was appointed a partner in the law firm Kells. She hoped her achievement would inspire other young professional businesswomen and students to follow their dreams.
She had previously been named Illawarra Women in Business Young Business Woman of the Year and started at Kells a decade ago, after three years in Sydney and two in Nowra.
She has also completed an MBA scholarship she received from The Illawarra Connection and University of Wollongong Sydney Business School.
In 2009, she became only the third woman in the state to become a Law Society of NSW Accredited Specialist in Business Law.
At the time, there were only about 150 accredited business law specialists among more than 20,000 solicitors practising in NSW.
Ms Harper practises in the business, commercial and corporate law areas and is experienced in mergers and acquisitions, and building and construction law.
She is also actively involved in Junior Chamber International's Illawarra chapter and has been an assessor for the Practical Legal Training Unit in the Faculty of Law at the University of Wollongong.
But a personal highlight came last year when she welcomed the arrival of her first child and she will talk about how family and work-life balance are so important in any career.
Registrations for the March 8 lunch can be made with Mrs Rudd on 0417 671 484.
