West Dapto resident Sandra Wheeler is again getting her hands dirty to clean up the suburb she loves.

The William Beach Bushcare Group member admits to occasionally getting frustrated by those who throw rubbish in waterways and nearby parks.

So she has registered a Clean Up Australia site in Horsley for Sunday, March 1.

"Everyone who loves to live, work and play in Horsley can help improve our area," Mrs Wheeler said.

"Rubbish left behind carelessly usually ends up in our waterways, and it's up to all of us to do a bit to prevent that. We are targeting areas such as the skate park, Reed Park, Horsley shops, parks and waterways."

She wants residents, sports clubs, players and business owners to support her on the day for a few hours from 9am.

"If you are unable to help on the day, perhaps you could consider a donation or sponsorship to help publicise the event and provide materials."

There will be many other groups holding Clean Up Australia Day events throughout Wollongong.
