Adrian Devlin must be hoping for a knighthood by so passionately defending Abbott's indefensible behaviour.

Abbott made himself a target while in opposition with his childish use of three word slogans, really clever stuff from an aspiring prime minister.
Since his election he has just made himself a bigger target with things like the budget (would Adrian admit that Tony is an even bigger liar than Julia was?), or how about that one time only scholarship that was offered to his daughter by a family friend?
As well as these, he has put his own backbench offside with his equally stupid "captain's picks" which have already been so pilloried by friends and foes that I can't be bothered listing them all. Abbott has demonstrated himself to be a loose cannon who has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth on any occasion.
His inappropriate use of the word holocaust is only his most recent faux pas on his way to being given the sack by his own party.

Amazing that usually well-briefed shadow treasurer Chris Bowen made a bad stumble with "gotcha" commenter Alan Jones.
Being an interested observer one issue that is deserving of further analysis is the comment by Jones, Bowen et al that Australia has to lift production.
The logical common sense question must be asked, why not create demand before we start producing? We can produce, but if no one is buying where does our production end up?
Our politicians and captains of industry must think that Australians are fools if we believe everything our so-called leaders espouse.
Production before demand sounds rather a childish comment.
No demand for our minerals and we witness a massive downturn. Demand is the key not overproduction that leads to a downturn in our economy.
It seems words are being mouthed without much deep analysis.

Has the eastern side of Thirroul Station been considered for a multi-storey car park? It would be much closer and less inconvenient than the proposed car park next to Jackson Park.
A multi-storey building that could incorporate a grandstand and change rooms, would house far more cars and have weather protection for disadvantaged travellers (parents with young children, handicapped, wheelchairs, etc). This should be a consideration because two months of September westerly winds will play havoc for those encumbered.

I read with interest the letters from Barry Swan, and the soon after response from Adrian Devlin. It is a bit like a boxing match blow by blow, perhaps we should invite these two men into a boxing ring.
I would put my money on Bazza the Bruiser.
I do wonder though, how Mr Devlin got to be so bitter about the Labor Party. He is worse that Piers Akerman and Alan Jones put together. I myself have always voted for the Labor Party, because they have installed most social reforms that we all, including Mr Devlin, enjoy in this great country.
Mr Devlin and I might bump into each other one day and have a beer together.
I might even convert him to what he calls us, those "lefties".
