The Steelers SG Ball under-18s team had an encouraging 18-12 victory to make it two wins to start the season following a first-up 29-24 victory over Souths.
But the Steelers Harold Matthews Cup under 16s were well beaten 32-10 last Saturday by the powerful Bulldogs.
In deteriorating conditions in SG Ball, prop forward Jordan Pinnock scored two tries and winger Tristan Sailor the other try in a hard-fought win.
In the Harold Matthews comp, winger Sam McCann and second-rower Drew Gough scored tries, while Jake Bell came off the interchange bench and was the Steelers' best player.
Winger Cooper Nizza and Gough also tried hard against the strong Bulldogs side.
The St George junior rep sides enjoyed outstanding wins over North Sydney at TG Milner Field.
The Dragons SG Ball side scored eight tries to two in a 38-8 thrashing of the Bears, while in the Harold Matthews Cup, promising hooker Andrew Kapinga scored two tries in a man-of-the-match effort in the 22-6 victory.
In this Saturday's round three, the Steelers Harold Matthews and SG Ball sides have the bye, while St George are away to Central Coast at Norford Park.
