A school teacher has been charged after allegedly sexually and indecently assaulting a student at a school on the NSW south coast, police say.

The 15-year-old girl attended the school where the 41-year-old man taught.
Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad said the girl told police that the assaults began late last year, and occurred on the school grounds.
Police arrested the teacher on Friday morning and charged him with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a person under the authority of the offender and two counts of aggravated indecent assault of a person under the authority of the offender.
Detectives also searched the teacher's house and seized a number of items.
The teacher was refused police bail and is due to appear in Port Kembla Local Court, near Wollongong, on Friday.
