Together Daisy Huckel, Geoff Jones, Jean Hayes and Wendy Stubbs will represent the Illawarra at the fourth annual Sydney Royal Easter Show Parade of Champions, in honour of their commitment to the show.
Each has excelled in their own field from Mrs Huckel, a Wollongong portraiture artist who has entered every Sydney Royal Arts and Crafts Competition since taking home first prize for her modern portrait in 1980, to Mr Jones, who has spent 45 years working as steward and ring supervisor at the show's woodchopping and sawing competition.
Mrs Hayes never missed a show since she began entering her beloved Scottish Terriers in the Sydney Royal Dog Show 64 years ago, while Mrs Stubbs and her husband Des have been competing in and judging the Sydney Royal Cattle Show for almost 60 years.
"The Parade of Champions honours those who go beyond winning the ribbons and trophies. Some have been part of the show community for a large part of their lives, and between all of them, have clocked up hundreds of shows in Sydney," Royal Agricultural Society of NSW president Robert Ryan said.
The champions will be recognised in the prestigious parade on the Show's Excellence in Agriculture Day on March 31.
