The 37-year-old hotelier faced a sentencing hearing at Port Kembla Local Court on Tuesday after a drunken jaunt in his boss' red Ferrari on December 30.
The short trip in Wollongong's CBD cost the father of two dearly, after he came to the attention of police driving "at a considerable speed higher" than the 60km/h speed limit on Corrimal Street around 7pm that evening, police facts said.
A later breath analysis revealed Savic had a blood-alcohol level of 0.176 - more than three times the legal limit.
According to the police facts, Savic was driving north along Corrimal Street when he pulled into a service station, parked the Ferrari at a bowser and left the keys on an empty counter in the service station shop.
The police officers followed and spoke with Savic outside the shop.
He was charged with one count of high-range drink-driving.
On Tuesday the court heard Savic had been celebrating the completion of a project with his boss over a few drinks on the evening in question.
Lawyer Graeme Morrison told the court Savic was a hard worker who loved his job.
He said Savic rarely drank and was embarrassed about his decision to drive, particularly as someone who held RSA (responsible service of alcohol) accreditation.
Magistrate Mark Douglass accepted the crime was out of character and that Savic had learned his lesson.
He fined Savic $900 and disqualified him from driving for six months.
For the following two years, he will only be allowed to drive with an interlock breath-testing device fitted in his car.
