The next stage of construction on the Blue Mile will start next month, with Wollongong City Council staff recommending councillors sign off on a $1.1 million tender.

The work will involve the construction of a promenade heading from the Musumeci building access bridge to the Wollongong Harbour entrance road.
The pathway will be set on piers, to protect the heritage-listed wall below, and the work will also involve safer fencing and the installation of improved lighting and street furniture.
Staff have recommended Select Civil Pty Ltd be awarded the tender for the project.
They noted the "unformed" pathway was well used, as indicated by a well-worn track, and said it "offers spectacular views over the Wollongong Harbour precinct".
The planned work will complete a construction project which started last year with the relocation of electricity assets to the southern side of the road as well as the construction of a footpath and retaining wall.
The work has been scheduled to start in late April and is due to be finished before next summer.
