Thirroul Surf Life Saving Club is celebrating after its under-15s team cleaned up at the Illawarra senior branch carnival on March 1.
Held at North Wollongong Beach, the surf life saving event brought together clubs from Helensburgh-Stanwell Park to Windang, featuring tough competition from strong clubs such as Bulli and Wollongong City.
The seven members of Thirroul's U15 team had outstanding results - Jake Beaumont won the ironman and Kate Dryden won the ironwoman title.
Jake was also first in the cameron relay, second in board, third in the swim and third in the swim team. Kate won the swim and cameron relay and came second in board and third in swim team.
Fellow team members also did well - Jazmine Yew (first in flags, sprint and cameron relay), Tahlie Fennell (third in board and swim team), and Trent Hodges (fourth in ironman).
U14 competitors Sienna Stuart and Dylan Gillett made the step up to the U15s - Sienna won the board and cameron relay and was third in the swim team. Dylan also finished in high places. Sienna also won the ironwoman and board and won four golds in team events in the U14 event the day before.
Thirroul finished first in the juniors club point score, third in the seniors club point score and second in the combined club point score.
Thirroul SLSC head coach and youth co-ordinator Troy Beaumont said it was a really good result for the club.
"It's the first time we've had a boy and girl finish first in the ironman and woman for a long time," he said.
"Kate was actually first across the line of the boys and girls in the surf swim, which is run at the same time."
Beaumont said last year they only had one strong competitor in U15s, but now they had seven.
"They're all dedicated to training, all of them do patrols on the weekend."
At the state junior titles at Umina Beach at the weekend, Sienna finished eighth in the board paddle final and made the ironwoman semi-final while Dylan made the ironman semi. Jake, Kate, Jazmine, Tahlie, Trent and Dylan will compete in the state senior titles this weekend.
