More than 2000 people packed out the University of Wollongong’s duck pond lawn for the second annual Farmer and the Owl Festival, which bought big-name rock bands like Jebediah and DZ Deathrays to the city.
They were among 24 bands playing at the festival, which also featured interactive art displays from visual artists and digital projectionists, as well as food and market stalls.
Organiser Ben Tillman said the festival exceeded his expectations.
‘‘Everything went really well - better than we thought - it was packed,’’ he said.
‘‘DJ Deathrays just totally destroyed the place and Hockey Dad, Bad//Dreems and Jebediah of course were all pretty amazing.
‘‘It was a really chilled out day, though people still had plenty of energy for the bands.’’
Mr Tillman said the venue allowed people to both relax and get into the thick of celebrations, depending on what they felt like.
‘‘I just liked having a lot of different spaces that could be used and people could get out of the festival what they wanted - it worked really well.’’
