Albion Park charged to a share of the lead in Illawarra Grade 1 pennants, while one spectacular rink win earned Dapto Citizens victory over champions Warilla in the grand final rematch.
The Park made it two wins plus a draw with a 73-39 triumph away to Woonona last Saturday to continue their best start in recent seasons.
Warilla won two of the three rinks against Dapto Citizens, but Kyle Johannes' 35-13 victory over world champion and new Gorillas recruit Alex Marshall set up Citos' 76-71 win.
Marshall was playing with reigning NSW senior singles champion Geoff McGillivray (lead), former world No 1 Leif Selby (second) and South Pacific Player of the Carnival, Jesse Noronha (third) but were no match for Johannes and partners Stuart Ellem (lead), Phil Reynolds (second), Troy Ford (third).
Warilla's Jeremy Henry beat Brian Harriott 31-18 while, in the other rink, Gorilla's young gun Aaron Teys edged out Ben Ford 27-23.
In other matches, Corrimal bounced back from a heavy loss to Warilla in round two to make it two wins from three rounds by beating Figgy Bowlo 74-51.
Scott Bateup had his best day for his new club Corrimal, skipping his rink to a 38-12 win over Steve Green.
Figgy Bowlo won the other two rinks with their star signing Graeme Archer and partners beating Paul Sweeny 18-16, while Greg Thurling edged out Brett Pieper 21-20.
Meanwhile, Thirroul celebrated their first win of the season with a 71-58 home triumph over promoted Windang.
Wiseman Park joined Albion Park on top with a 64-37 victory over Towradgi, who are the only club without a point after three rounds.
In Grade 2A, Kiama made it three straight wins following a 67-52 win over Dapto.
Wiseman Park edged out Fairy Meadow 62-60 in the other Grade 2A match.
In Grade 2B, Oak Flats beat Figgy Bowlo 67-52, while Dapto Citizens beat Warilla 67-55.
In Saturday's round four in Grade 1, Albion Park host Towradgi, Windang welcome Woonona, Warilla host Thirroul, Wiseman Park are at home to Corrimal while Dapto Citizens host Figgy Bowlo.
