Gong hang-glider lands Brazilian title

Wollongong hang-glider Curt Warren celebrated a win in Brazil yesterday after a week of racing against the world's best.

The owner-operator of Warren Windsports can usually be seen taking locals and visitors on tandem hang-gliding rides off Bald Hill near Stanwell Park.

But for the past seven days he has been flying in one of the most famous places in the world for hang-gliding competition.

He came fourth on the first day of competition and was in the lead a few days later after a couple of wins.

He held off some stiff competition and took the overall win on the seventh day.

Mr Warren had particularly enjoyed the dry weather, good winds and strong thermals.

“Brazil...the pilots, people, culture and fun,’’ he said.

“I am very fortunate to be able to return to the Brasilia Super Race after nine years away.”
