The proposed Albion Park Rail bypass will cut through the sporting complex, starting at the cricket ground, with Shellharbour City Council this week endorsing a new master plan for the precinct to be placed on public exhibition.
Consultation has taken place with the 20 groups that use the complex.
The master plan proposes to relocate the cricket ground and facilities, which are also used for junior AFL, to the southern end of the sporting complex.
Under the master plan, the Albion Park-Oak Flats Junior Rugby League Club fields will be reconfigured, with new amenities to be built in a central location between the fields.
The junior netball courts will be relocated behind Shellharbour City Stadium, with a new southern entrance to the complex to be built.
Shellharbour City Council's manager of property and recreation, Donna Flanagan, said Roads and Maritime Services had committed to replace all facilities directly affected by the bypass "like for like".
The master plan was prepared by RMS on behalf of the council.
Mr Pearse said while some in his club were disappointed to be leaving the club's home ground of more than 30 years, he thought it was a great opportunity, particularly if Cricket NSW and the AFL came on board with extra funds for facilities.
"RMS will give us exactly what we have here, except everything will be brand new," Mr Pearse said.
He said there was no reason the new facility couldn't be built to a standard capable of hosting state sides, as North Dalton Park in Wollongong had previously.
Mr Pearse said the RMS had also given a guarantee the club would not lose its current ground until after the new one was built, which was likely to be two years after work begins on the new bypass.
He said the history of the current ground will always be with the club.
