South Coast captain Chris Price remains confident the Wolves are on the right track despite having conceded four goals against a red-hot Blacktown City at WIN Stadium on Sunday.

Continuing a difficult start to the NSW Premier League season, the 4-1 loss comes after a 3-nil hiding at the hands of Sydney Olympic in the season opener.

Price said a goal just after half-time, which made the deficit three goals, was the dagger blow which the Wolves could not recover from.

"We pressed hard in the second half and had a lot of energy, but that third goal made it too hard," he said.

"Some of their goals were quite soft and came about after a lapse in concentration from us.

"But [Blacktown City] played quite well and they certainly deserve to win.

"It's not the ideal situation, the way we have started the season, but we still believe in what we're doing - we're nearly there."

Peter Simonoski scored from the penalty spot in the second half, providing renewed hope for the Wolves, who pressed to try and get back into the contest. But Sasa Macura sealed the win with a late goal for Blacktown.

Wolves goalkeeper Tom Hamilton made several key saves to stop the margin from blowing out further.

The Wolves tackle Sutherland on Saturday night, after the Sharks were crushed 3-nil by Sydney United.
