Zach Jones has competed at his first Australian Junior Athletics Championships in the Para under-20 division and had great success. Qualifying for a massive eight events, Zach won a total of six medals.
Zach finished sixth in the 100m, fourth in the shot put, third in the long jump, discus throw and 400m, second in the 800m and 200m and first in the 1500m. He won one gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
Casey Lee Bedford won a silver medal in the 200m and a bronze medal in the 4x100m as part of the NSW relay team. Casey also qualified for the 100m final where she finished fifth.
Olivia Rose McEwan ran fourth in her heat for the 100m hurdles, qualifying for the final where she ran a new personal best time of 14.38s to finish sixth in Australia.
Kade Szakacs competed in the 800m and 1500m.
In his 800m heat he was unluckily caught up in a fall with a number of other competitors yet was able to claw his way back to finish sixth. Unfortunately only the first four qualified for the final.
On time, he finished 12th overall across the two heats. In the 1500m he was more fortunate, finishing second in his heat to qualify for the final where he was able to back up and finish fifth.
