Promising track cycling and BMX racer Kirk Cleaven is making great strides against older riders, including winning a bronze medal at the Cycling Australia junior track national championships in Melbourne.

His medal effort follows competing against older riders at track cycling's NSW country championships at the Unanderra Velodrome in January.
As a 12-year-old riding in the under-15s category, Cleaven - who is now with the Illawarra Academy of Sport - produced a huge achievement to make the state team.
"It's been a really busy few months," Cleaven said.
"The track season is finished now, but there is a lot of BMX ... including trying to make the Australian team for the 2015 BMX World Championships in Belgium still to come."
In BMX, Cleaven is the defending champion in both cruiser and 20-inch 12 boys classes in both NSW and Victoria.
He is also the reigning cruiser champion and he finished second in the 20-inch class at the ACT titles, and placed second in cruiser in the South Australian titles.
