A magistrate agreed to put him on a good behaviour bond for one of his crimes, and he agreed to behave himself for the foreseeable future.
Sadly, that promise lasted just six weeks.
Sutherland District Court heard Bedek was involved in a brawl in Wollongong's Crown Street in early September which contravened his bond. He committed another violent assault on New Year's Eve.
Bedek claimed the rival group in the September incident had attacked his girlfriend one morning while she was getting money from an ATM, so when they saw the group later that day, they gave chase.
The couple then got into a fight with one man. One of Bedek's punches hit him and he fell to the ground, hitting his head on the pavement.
A second man produced a chain and swung it at Bedek and his girlfriend, before everyone involved scattered.
Police spoke to Bedek at his house later that day and charged him a couple of weeks later.
In the December incident, security guards monitoring Wollongong's CCTV cameras saw Bedek chasing a woman along Crown Street around 11pm.
When he caught up to her, Bedek punched her twice in the face and once in the ribs. He also grabbed her by the hair.
Bedek was eventually restrained by three men who allowed the woman to get away and walked with Bedek back to his Crown Street home.
Bedek left the unit a few minutes later having changed his T-shirt, and walked with the men to Keira Street, where police caught up with him and he was arrested.
Bedek was sentenced to a maximum jail term of two years and six months, with an 18-month non-parole period in the local court.
Appealing the decision on Friday, Bedek said he was remorseful for what he'd done.
Judge Paul Conlon agreed to shave six months off his jail term and reduced the non-parole period to 12 months.
With time served, Bedek will be released in January.
