The Greens' vote fell in Wollongong, Shellharbour and Keira on Saturday with swings against Greens candidates in the order of 0.4 per cent, 5.4 per cent and 2 per cent respectively.
NSW Minerals Council chief executive Stephen Galilee said the drop in Greens support in the Upper Hunter, Cessnock, Wollongong and Keira followed big swings against them four years ago in the same seats.
Mr Galilee said the party had failed to win back disaffected voters with their scare campaigns.
"This result shows that voters in mining seats are not fooled by the job-destroying, anti-mining rhetoric of the Greens."
On current counting, the Greens have suffered a 1 per cent swing against them in the upper house.
