The initiative comes in the aftermath of the players being asked to submit such a report on their season so far during their three-day camp in Brisbane, which ended on Tuesday.

Speaking in Sydney on Wednesday, Cheika said the 51 players were all asked to "go through their game and critique that" in the reports asked of them at the camp.

Cheika said the purpose was not for the players to "actually to score and review", but to help them "understand the criteria" in the game that he intends for them to play.

"It's more about the detail and understanding of what we're looking for," Cheika said.

However, Cheika said asking players to now provide weekly updates on their games online until the end of the season is so "we can track form".

Cheika has also asked players to start analysing their opposite numbers in other countries, especially those they are likely face in the World Cup.

Cheika revealed his instruction on Wednesday after he was asked if the performances in the Six Nations had prompted him to discuss what Australia could expect from northern hemisphere sides in the World Cup – in particular England and Wales, who are in the same pool as Australia.

Cheika replied, saying: "Not about the Six Nations, but about what they [should be] looking at around individual players [from those teams], knowing their opponents a bit better and taking in a bit more, just going up a level in preparation as a whole."

Cheika added that he wants: "Our players looking at any of the international opponents they are coming up against in a more individual way.

"When you see all the champion performers in any sport, their analysis and preparation they are doing on their opposite is almost limitless sometimes."

Cheika felt he "got a lot more out of" the camp in Brisbane "than I imagined initially", but said it will be the last such gathering.

But he said there will be "another four or five 'morning afters'", those being meetings after an Australian derby of Wallabies squad members in that game.

Wallabies and Waratahs flanker Michael Hooper lauded the Brisbane get-together.

"We have seen a lot of stuff that 'Cheik' has done before," Hooper said, referring to Cheika's other position as the Waratahs' head coach.

"It was really good to see the boys from other franchises embracing it and wanting to really give some [input]."

Hooper said his season report submitted at camp addressed "specific things in my game, and that I think was for the majority of players".

However, while generally happy with his game, Hooper knows he has elements to work on.

"I always try and rate as to how I am fitting in to the team in the No.7 jersey and I believe I am doing that pretty well," Hooper said.

"There are areas I want to definitely improve, that I think I am just a bit sloppy [in].

"I want to improve [so] I am not making those mistakes, first of all [in] Super Rugby when that is heating up and [then in] international time."

Meanwhile, Wallaby and Waratahs back Adam Ashley-Cooper will likely delay by at least a week his playing return from what a second scan has diagnosed as a partially torn right hamstring tendon.

Ashley-Cooper had initially targeted Saturday week's Stormers game in Sydney for his comeback, but he now hopes to be fully fit to play the Hurricanes in Wellington on April 18.

"I will get back to team training by next week and see how it feels," he said.

"But it certainly won't be ready by the Stormers. I want to be ready by the Hurricanes."
