Crown prosecutor David Coulton sought a four-week adjournment of Anthonio Scavera’s matter in Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday to give officers ample time to view and categorise the material.
‘‘There are welfare conditions due to constant viewing, hence I’m asking for that time,’’ he said.
‘‘My instructions are that some of that material may fall towards the high end (of the scale).’’
Scavera, 29, first drew the attention of police after two families contacted Stockland Corrimal security guards about indecent acts occurring in a toilet block.
In one incident, a six-year-old boy claimed Scavera asked the child to ‘‘touch his [Scavera’s] doodle’’, which the child refused to do.
Scavera is also accused of reaching under a toilet door into a cubicle being used by another young boy only minutes after the first incident.
Investigating officers allegedly later discovered video of Scavera engaged in sexual acts with a young boy, aged about seven, on electronic items seized from his home.
He is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, possession of child abuse material, committing an act of indecency and behaving in an offensive manner in a public place.
Magistrate Michael Stoddart adjourned the matter to April 29. Scavera remains in custody.
