The SG Ball team had their unbeaten season end against Newcastle in the previous round and posted back-to-back losses with a 34-16 defeat.

In a bad round for Steelers and St George junior rep sides, the Dragons' under 16s Harold Matthews Cup side were thrashed 36-12 by Manly, despite two tries from St George hooker Andrew Kapinga.
In Saturday's round 8, the Steelers host Canberra at WIN Stadium in both competitions, with St George away to Cronulla.
The under 18s SG Ball Cup and Harold Matthews Cup are elite junior NSWRL competitions featuring 17 teams and played over nine rounds before the finals.
