Officers spotted a white Nissan Micra exceeding the speed limit on Windang Road about 2.45am on Sunday and say the car topped 140km/h in an 80km/h zone.
According to police, the car drove through a red light onto Shellharbour Road at Kemblawarra, before the pursuit continued along streets in Primbee.
Lake Illawarra Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Andrew Koutsoufis said officers followed the car onto Tom Brown Parade, Shellharbour Road, Illowra Crescent, Jones Avenue and Korrongulla Crescent.
The car then reportedly travelled at speed along a dirt track behind residential houses before coming to a halt at the gate of a property on Purry Burry Avenue in Primbee.
Officers allege they saw a 20-year-old man move from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat. A 22-year old man was found sitting in the rear passenger-side of the car.
A search of the vehicle located cash, various items of clothing and a number of items police allege were used in property offences.
A bag containing methamphetamine and another bag containing cannabis were allegedly found on the younger man.
According to police, the Micra had been stolen from Warilla earlier this month.
Both men were charged with a number of property, drug and traffic offences. They were refused bail and are due in Port Kembla Local Court on May 19.
