The catch-ups have become a monthly event since a fund-raiser was organised for Rikki Organ by fellow entertainer Scott Radburn and friends in 2014.
Radburn, a former member of the Four Kinsmen, wanted to do something late last year so the community could help the multi MO Award winner through his next round of treatment for the multiple myeloma blood cancer he has battled since 2009.
Organ said he wanted to spend time with his friends after the function at Centro CBD last October.
But since January he had not been well enough to do it, after his second stem cell transplant, and the group had not met for a couple of months.
A further delay occurred two weeks ago when another of Organ's entertainment friends, Graham Wilson, was diagnosed with a massive brain tumour.
Wilson, a former member of the Four Kinsmen, was operated on by Dr Charlie Teo less than two weeks ago.
And this week both were well enough to get together and share a few stories and laughter with Radburn and friends such as Jose Codina, Robert Specogna and Leigh Stewart at Centro CBD where the idea first began.
Organ and Wilson think of it as an opportunity like the Beatles song about getting by with a little help from friends.
And they think sharing a few stories laughter really is a good medicine.
